Founded in 1908, the University of Alberta is a world-renowned university with a long an impressive history. It is most famous in Earth Science, Petrochemical Industry, Chemistry, Agronomy and Biomedicine. Other faculties and areas of study are expanding and gaining recognition with in the university community around the world. Its Artificial Intelligence major is currently in the leading position in the world.
The University of Alberta is also one of Canada's largest research-oriented comprehensive universities, ranking among the top five research universities in Canada, together with the University of Toronto, McGill University and the University of British Columbia, and its scientific research level ranks in the forefront.
It has cultivated three Nobel Prize winners, including Houghton, winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine.
Charles Clark, former Prime Minister of Canada, Beverley McLachlin, Supreme Court of Canada Justice, George Stanley, designer of the Canadian national flag, Peter Lougheed, former Premier of the province of Alberta, Xu Guan Lin, Principal of Nanyang Technological University, who is a graduate the University of Alberta.
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta offers 21 engineering courses, and offers a large annual engineering internship co-op program.
Over 1,400 students are enrolled annually (with pay) and all degree programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Council.
Since its establishment in 2008, more than 100 student graduates from our program have been admitted to the University of Alberta. These students are now enrolled in Engineering, Biochemistry and other majors which have strict, limited enrollment requirements. Zhang Yuchen, winner of the Governors General's Academic Award is currently studying Engineering at the University of Alberta.
