Annual Inspection
2021-03-24

Recently, officials from the Nova Scotia Department of Education conducted the annual inspection of our program. Due to the impact of the global epidemic, this annual inspection; generally conducted on site in November; was conducted March 17, 18, and 19, as a virtual process, on line. Travel restrictions prevented the team from joining us here in Suzhou.

This is the 13th consecutive year that our program has passed this annual inspection and been awarded full affirmation and warm praise from the Canadian Officials, a testament to the quality of instruction and dedication to excellence of the Program Staff.

To ensure the quality of education and guarantee a high international education standard, Nova Scotia Department of Education inspects 17 Sino-Canadian high school programs annually. However, due to the impact of the current global epidemic, this year the annual inspection was conducted online. After receiving the notice about the inspection, Ms. Raymond, the Canadian Principal of our program presided over the organization and scheduling of this online inspection. This was a new experience for the Program Staff and was another example of the way the full staff team pulled together to showcase our Program and students.

Under the organization and guidance of Ms. Raymond, a variety of daily classroom lessons and instruction, at grade 10, 11 and 12 were recorded on video. Interviews with students, parents, teachers and the principal were conducted using a variety of video conferencing technologies, so the team of officials could get a detailed understanding of the teaching and daily operation of our program.

From Grade 10 to Grade 12, teachers gave professional and lively class presentations athey explained things in profound and simple ways in variety of courses from Mathematics 10 to Pre Calculus 11 to Technical Reading and Writing to Chemistry 11 and Drama. The students listened carefully and actively interacted with each other and their Canadian Teachers. Every detail was fed back to the inspection team via video.

Ms. Raymond also showed Pictures from our Program Gallery Wall that honor, highlight and chronicle our proud 13 year history of growth, advancement, academic achievement and participation in the Waterloo Mathematics Competition, MicroBiz and other academic competitions. This gallery also highlights student participation in social activities, school clubs, and charity events; all planned to help students develop life long hobbies, strengths, and to plan a life of service to others as true citizens of a Global World.

In the online interviews, the students and their parents fully affirmed the education and teaching level of the Sino-Canada Program, and all the teachers were warmly affirmed and praised by the inspection team.

As Ms. Raymond said, the "Sino-Canada Program is not only a high school program created by the joint efforts of teachers, students and parents, but also a special and happy family atmosphere for everyone. The Canadian Certified teachers work with the support and cooperation of Chinese teachers to create a unique path to success for each student."
